On a traditional Cambodian local boat, explore the fascinating floating communities of Tonle Sap lake. Connected to the Mekong River, the lake inflates five times its original size during the rainy season. The daily life in the floating village, complete with a floating school and fish farm, revolve around the lake’s water level.
In the morning/ afternoon transfer from the hotel to embark on the wooden boat for a visit of the floating village and the flooded forest. The Tonle Sap Lake is the biggest fresh water lake in Asia. It is also the densest in fish. The particularity of this lake is that during the rainy season the water flows from the Mekong to the Lake. At this time the lake can be extended 5 times than its original size. Then at the end of the rainy season the water flows back to the Mekong and to the sea. On the way to the lake, you will pass through the floating house, floating school and visit the fish farm before reaching the lake.
